Symantec's Strategy as a Broadcom Unit

CTO Paul Agbabian Discusses Areas of Focus

Innovation, consolidation and integration will be key areas of focus for Symantec's enterprise security business following its acquisition by Broadcom, says Paul Agbabian, CTO.

Symantec was acquired by Broadcom in August 2019 (see: Broadcom Reaches $10.7B Deal to Buy Symantec Enterprise).

"We will be investing heavily in our main product lines, of which we have four - endpoint security, DLP, web and email security, and with the acquisition of CA, we've brought the identity and access management portfolio into the Symantec enterprise division," he says.

In a video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSA Conference 2020. Agbabian discusses:

  • Symantec's key focus areas and integration strategies;
  • Acquisition strategy for new product lines;
  • Best-of-breed vs. platform approach.

Agbabian is global CTO and chief architect for Symantec Enterprise Division at Broadcom Inc. He leads R&D teams in architecture, SaaS and data platforms, user experience and design, government and standards and technology partner programs. He is responsible for integrated cyber defense technical strategy and cross-division alignment. Before Symantec's acquisition by Broadcom, he was with Symantec for 12 years as its CTO.
