Profiles in Leadership: Sonia AristaFor Veteran Security Leader, It's About Toppling Silos and Respecting Boundaries
As a veteran cybersecurity leader in the healthcare sector and vendor community, Sonia Arista, currently the global CISO of Everbridge, is not afraid to tear down organizational silos. But she also has a healthy respect for necessary boundaries between distinct corporate functions.
In an interview with Information Security Media Group as part of CyberEdBoard's ongoing Profiles in Leadership series, Arista discusses:
- Her top challenges in today's environment;
- Why CISOs need to have direct access to the board;
- Advocacy for women and underrepresented minorities in cybersecurity roles.
Arista is vice president and CISO at Everbridge, with global oversight of operational and product security and compliance. She has over 20 years of experience in IT program management and consulting in the areas of governance, risk and compliance, with the last 15 years focused on enterprise data protection. Previously, she was the healthcare CISO and vertical lead for Fortinet and the CISO at Tufts Medical Center and the Floating Hospital for Children, now Tufts Children's Hospital. She has also been contracted to serve as an interim CISO for several healthcare-related entities, including Wellforce, Nuance Communications and Verscend Technologies.
