Vice President, Information Technology - American Family Care - Birmingham, AL

Provides leadership and direction to Information Technology in the support and maintenance of existing systems as well as the development of new technology solutions. Supports mission-critical applications and system integration for patient management, electronic medical records, and business applications. Responsible for the management, security, support, evaluation, and purchase of all computer hardware, software, and business applications. Supports telephony, desktop hardware and software, servers, networks, and end users.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Analyzes system requirements and develops solutions to complex business and healthcare challenges. Defines business and technical requirements. Manages large-scale projects and vendor contracts. Develops procedures, defines roles and responsibilities, and monitors individual performance to ensure that network and business-critical applications are maintained to the highest levels of “up time” including servers, connectivity, applications, and databases Ensures security of network, patient information, and other business information. Develops and maintains backup and disaster recovery plan. Ensures compliance with HIPAA security regulations. Serves as HIPAA Security Officer. Oversees hardware purchases, PC setup and installation, and helpdesk/user support. Monitors and manages databases including security, backup, maintenance, and optimization Provides supervision, guidance and development to IT staff Maintains currency with technology changes and enhancements and identifies improvement opportunities in information technology infrastructure, systems, and services.

BS degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into IT solutions and to lead projects to successful implementation. High level of proficiency in network administration, database administration, security, system interfacing, and end-user support. Minimum of three years of experience in database management, network administration, and hardware/software/end-user support. Ability to monitor network performance, identify gaps in security and performance, and address identified issues. Healthcare experience preferred but not required.
