Risk Management Intern - FJ Management Inc. - Salt Lake City, UT

The FJM summer intern program is tailored to individuals who are currently enrolled full-time students at an accredited, four-year college or university. The internships run from May to August – dependent on the school calendar. The goal of the FJM Intern Program is to provide a structured program that will equip interns with the skills and experience to help prepare for a successful career. The Risk Management Intern position offers unique hands-on experience evaluating identified risks and mitigants across the FJM family of companies. The intern is mentored by seasoned professionals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Major Project: Comprehensive Risk Assessment – Serve as integral member of Risk Assessment Team, with primary responsibility for the following: Review source materials such as interview notes, prior assessments and surveys to identify risks Evaluate internal and external exposures to identify additional risks Categorize and group identified risks Rank risk severity and likelihood Research existing risk controls and mitigants Evaluate effectiveness of risk controls and mitigants Review individual risk results with risk owners, re-tool as needed Create dynamic reports to provide risk assessment at departmental, entity and overall board levels, with appropriate severity thresholds Present results to FJM Executive Leadership Team at conclusion of Internship Insurance Assist in gathering and compiling of exposure information for underwriters Audit insurance policy document retention Analyze insurance retention levels across FJM entities Review insurance placements for captive insurance opportunities Assist in the ongoing management of WellQuest work comp claims Review Maverik risk management processes All other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university, actively pursuing a degree in a business discipline. Must have excellent computer skills and experience with Excel and Word.
