Job Type: LOC_COLKET-Colket Translational Research Req ID: 74043 Shift: Days Employment Status: Regular - Full Time Job Summary The Barzilab (barzilab.org) at the Lifespan Brain Institute of Penn Medicine and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is looking for curious data scientists. The position will involve working on human datasets and studying mechanisms underpinning risk and resilience to stress throughout brain development, with a focus on suicidal behavior. For example, we will investigate how polygenic risk for psychiatric disorders interacts with environmental exposures (such as trauma, neighborhood environment) to drive suicidal behavior in youth. The position will enable the candidate to work with large datasets like the Philadelphia Neurodevelopmental Cohort, the UK Biobank, and the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study. Datasets include large numbers of genotyped and deeply phenotyped individuals that will allow modeling of brain/behavior development through integration of multiple data types that include genomics, demographics, clinical data, environmental data (exposome), imaging and electronic health records. For a motivated candidate, there will be opportunities to learn all of the necessary skills for these kind of analysis. No prior knowledge in neuroscience/psychiatry is required. All work will be under the direct supervision of Dr. Ran Barzilay. 1. Responsible for extracting, cleaning and integrating data across multiple sources. 2. Write code to create, score and manage clinical databases and datesets. 3. Perform data modeling and statistical analysis. 4. Effectively interpret and present findings using data visulizations and reports. Job Responsibilities Participate in research by analyzing, abstracting, entering, and presenting data using research databases. Review patient charts and record and summarize data clearly and concisely with 100% accuracy. Analyze and abstract data with 100% accuracy. Enter abstracted data into database with 100% accuracy Coordinate abstract writing and presentation as required. Monitor and maintain research database. Act as divisional resource for research database management. Keep up-to-date with all possible database capabilities as well as related software and technology. Participate in clinical research within area and in other activities to support the project. Required Experience: Two years of experience with clinical databases and clinical research. Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic Preferred Education: Masters degree Additional Technical Requirements Knowledge of medical terminology. Attentive to detail and data accuracy; meticulous. Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, exercising discretion and judgment. Able to work accurately, work well with others and pay strict attention to detail. Must be adaptable to do work which is varied and requires an intellectual and professional approach. Requires a high degree of flexibility of skills and hours. Experience with computer programs including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access preferred.
