Job Summary

Manage all aspects of Food Safety and quality control in a nutritional bottling facility. Review, author and develop Food Safety and quality processes as they relate to manufacturing and Quality Assurance (QA). Conduct quality related audits with regulatory authorities and clients.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive)

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager is the SQF practitioner with the responsibility and authority to use the SQF 2000 code for the following: The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager has a dual role as Sanitation Supervisor Knowledgable and trained on Housekeeping, Sanitation and Pest Control Procedures Oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF 2000 System; Take appropriate action to maintain the integrity of the SQF 2000 system; and Monitors and reports on key quality measures throughout the facility. Coordinates with manufacturing to resolve quality issues and drive quality improvement throughout the facility. Acts as the facility liaison with corporate and division quality staff. Trains and mentors key direct reports to effectively manage the functional areas of responsibility. Monitors cleaning procedures and programs to ensure desired sanitation results are attained throughout the facility. Manages plant master cleaning schedule to ensure frequency of cleaning is adequate. Assures compliance to all facility sanitation and quality requirements to meet audit standards and regulatory compliance. Performs periodic audits to check on effectiveness of the programs and that the audit trail is intact. Coordinates with other departmental managers to verify soundness of related compliance programs. With the plant manager and engineering manager, evaluates new equipment for sanitary design and necessary corrective action. Conducts quality investigations, determining the disposition of raw material or finished product. Requires communicating with various departments, customers and vendors. Manages QA staff. Maintains QA documentation. Represents Glanbia in meetings with quality auditors for both government and customer representatives as needed. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Performs other duties as assigned. Manages deficient materials review process and ensures materials are investigated and dispositioned in a timely manner. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Interviews, selects, and trains employees. Sets rates of pay and hours of work. Maintains quality records. Appraises productivity; handles employee grievances or complaints, or disciplines employees; determines work techniques. Plans and apportions work among employees; determining types of equipment to be used in performing work, or materials needed. Monitors work for legal or regulatory compliance. Provides for safety and security of the workplace.

Qualification & Experience Requirements

Education, Training:
BS Food Science, chemistry or related degree, Masters is Preferred.

Experience Required:
A minimum of 3-5 years related QA and management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Experience with writing and maintaining HACCPs, SOPs, SSOPs, and GMPs Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Must have demonstrably strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal). Independent, proactive, extremely detail oriented, dependable, organized and ability to handle multiple tasks. Must be able to work flexible hours to include overtime and weekends when needed. Ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining productive at all times. Ability to work with amino acids, vitamins and fine chemicals in powder and liquid form as well as allergen products. Strong desire and ability to work in fast paced deadline orientated environment. Ability to exercise independent judgment by identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Proven ability choosing appropriate course of action while considering related costs and benefits. Must be able to communicate to and work well with multiple departments. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions finished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to work with amino acids, vitamins and fine chemicals in powder and liquid form as well as allergen products.

Language, Computer & Numeracy:
Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbal and written Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs Fluent in written and spoken English required Computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook Experience with SAP is preferred
