Job summary
We are looking for a talented and experienced regulatory and compliance attorney to support the Product Safety and Compliance team for Amazon's private brands. This is a unique opportunity to work with multiple business and compliance teams across Amazon to build new processes that raise the bar on product safety across many types of consumer products, ranging from patio heaters to trash bags to swim wear.

In this role, you will be responsible for counseling cross functional business and compliance teams on product safety legal and business requirements for Amazon-branded products sold around the world. This role requires consistent high judgment in advising internal teams on safety regulations and leading engagements with regulators such as the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Food and Drug Administration. The successful candidate will be a fast learner who is detail-oriented, customer-obsessed, able to work independently, and comfortable making decisions in ambiguous situations.

Preferred location for this position is Arlington VA, but will also consider Santa Monica, CA or Seattle, WA.

Providing day-to-day advice on regulations concerning a wide range of consumer products sold under Amazon brands; Monitoring and advising product safety and compliance teams on upcoming regulatory changes and maintenance of existing compliance processes; Providing mission critical legal advice on the design of safety mechanisms; Advising on internal processes and practices to support product safety related governance requirements and expectations; and Serving as lead counsel in the response and resolution of regulatory inquiries. A combination of law firm, in-house or government experience
Experience with US consumer product regulations, such as CPSC, FDA or EPA regulations
Experience with global environmental and technical regulations attaching to the manufacture, sale, distribution, use and disposition of products including consumer devices, including EU regulatory requirements
Strong organizational and project management skills
Strong analytical and communication skills
