Postdoctoral Research Associate (Health Policy) - UNC-Chapel Hill - Chapel Hill, NC

The Center for Medication Optimization (CMO) Health Policy Fellow will work at the intersection of policy education and research. The Fellowship will prepare clinically trained individuals to critically evaluate legislation, develop and teach policy in the pharmacy curriculum, advance research skills, and improve communication and dissemination skills, especially to diverse audiences. Graduates of the fellowship program will be well positioned for careers in health policy and advocacy and/or research. This two-year fellowship will be based at UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in the Center for Medication Optimization (CMO). The fellow will have the opportunity to do up to two approved externships over the course of the fellowship as well as audit relevant courses offered at the University of North Carolina ? Chapel Hill. In this position, the Health Policy Fellow will: Collaborate with other policy organizations Conduct research projects in conjunction with new or ongoing CMO research Participate in Local and National Rulemaking Process Engage payer and policy stakeholders to inform research focus Teach others about US health care system and policy making process Managing CMO Scholars Contribute to policy-driven dissemination plan Upon the completion of the fellowship program, graduates will have gained experience and exposure in the following areas: 1. Increased understanding and ability to navigate the regulatory process 2. Critically assess and prioritize existing policies and draft proposals through formal analysis and impact evaluation 3. Engage with key stakeholders to inform research and produce timely, relevant policy comments 4. Develop effective verbal and written communication skills 5. Educate others on the US health policy landscape and methods for policy change 6. Gain additional training in the legislative process, policy theory and analysis methodology, as needed Minimum Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who have health policy or relevant research experience.Candidate must hold a doctoral degree from an accredited program.
