This position is for a Managing Consultant in the Risk Management, Compliance and Security (RMCS) service group within NCI’s Energy Practice. The position will be part of a team that assists electric utilities develop and strengthen Reliability Compliance Programs, through enhancing risk management processes, enhancing internal controls, and conducting full preparation for all NERC and WECC compliance activities. The RMCS Managing Consultant will be a key team member for all activities pertaining to NERC Reliability Compliance activities, including audit preparation, inherent risk assessments, internal controls evaluations, and overall Reliability Compliance Program development. This individual will be responsible for all Standards, including Operations and Planning and Critical Infrastructure Protection Standards More specifically, the Consultant will conduct gap analyses, risk assessments, internal controls evaluations, audit preparatory sessions, training sessions, interviews, strategic management analyses, compliance benchmarking assessments, and advisory support pertaining to Reliability Compliance. The RMCS consultant will report to the Director, Risk & Compliance. The Risk Management, Compliance and Security Managing Consultant Specific capabilities and/or activities may include: Conduct risk assessments for all electric utilities, from both a security and operational perspective. Analyze Reliability and Security business processes and suggest ways to improve them. Evaluate and develop internal controls supporting compliance with NERC Reliability Standards Conduct training sessions Conduct audit preparatory sessions, both from a mock interview perspective and an audit readiness perspective. Advise Electric Utilities on all aspects pertaining to Reliability Compliance. Conduct interviews pertaining to compliance, risk management and internal controls Draft management reports pertaining to compliance, risk management and internal controls Experience and familiarity in NERC Reliability Standards Communicate solutions and new strategies to clients through reports and presentations Effective and efficient writing skills; ability to draft senior level management reports. Qualifications Include: Proficient in the NERC Reliability Standards Collaborative and team oriented Strong project management skills Strong communications skills, including both written and verbal Strong critical analysis and problem solving skills Masters degree in a related field Experience working in the Reliability Compliance field for an electric utility, a Region, NERC or FERC. Highly developed organizational and management skills; Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities without diminished effectiveness Travel is required
Frequently communicates with clients and coworkers and must be able to share information effectively Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills Work as a member of a team as well as be a self-motivator with ability to work independently Flexibility and responsiveness in managing multiple projects in sometimes high-pressure situations simultaneously Able to travel via airplane with minimal assistance to client sites across the US and potentially internationally Usually remains stationary for the majority of the day Regularly uses close visual acuity and operates computer equipment to prepare and analyze and transmit data
