About the Opportunity The Supervision, Regulation, and Credit Department, Large Financial Institutions Supervision unit has an immediate opening for an experienced individual in its Large Bank and Specialized Supervision group with expertise in the area of Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA / AML) compliance. You will be a member of the Large Institution Supervision Coordination Committee (LISCC) Governance & Controls (G&C) Compliance team, which supervises the legal and compliance infrastructures of the largest financial institutions in the Federal Reserve System. The BSA/AML Compliance examiner will focus on understanding and evaluating the compliance control framework of financial institutions with respect to AML, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) regulations. A Large Bank Examiner supports the Central Bank’s supervision of global systemically important financial institutions and evaluates the risk management practices for the largest financial institutions in the country. You will collaborate with people across the Federal Reserve System and will contribute to the LISCC G&C Program. You will report to a Senior Manager or an Officer. What You Will Do Lead or participate on examinations and conduct ongoing monitoring to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of large banks’ BSA/AML and OFAC compliance risk management program and oversight. This will include risk identification and assessment processes, governance, compliance monitoring, testing, and training practices, and core line of businesses’ risk management practices. Identify supervisory issues, support examination conclusions, and communicate results to key stakeholders during meetings and within key supervisory documents. Monitor progress and document remediation of previously communicated supervisory issues for closure. Work collaboratively and build relationships with a broad array of constituents across the Federal Reserve System and LISCC program, including dedicated supervisory team members, other FRS examiners, Board of Governors’ staff, and personnel at other banking regulatory agencies. Lead or participate in projects including those related to emerging compliance topics and mandated supervisory work. Contribute to preparation of supervisory plans for relevant and effective risk-based supervision. Communicate regularly with supervised large financial institutions, regulatory agencies, and Federal Reserve executive management Contribute to and periodically lead Federal Reserve System and Department workgroups. Support Fifth District supervision of non-LISCC large financial institutions as needed. Travel as needed (25 to 50%) when normal operations resume. Qualifications Five or more years of examiner or financial industry experience with advanced knowledge in BSA/AML compliance risk management. Experience with relevant laws and regulations and strong knowledge of bank operations. Ability to complete complex assignments independently, successfully manage multiple assignments, and prioritize and delegate effectively to meet goals. Bachelor’s degree is required and a Master’s degree preferred. Examiner commission and credentials or commensurate financial industry experience with audit, risk management, and/or governance and controls responsibilities required. Additionally, employees engaged in Supervision and Regulation may be subject to borrowing and deposit restrictions. These employees may need to recuse themselves from certain supervisory work based on: Their borrowing relationships (Appendix B Parts I.1, II.1 and II.2) If a financial institution employs a member of the employee’s immediate family (i.e. spouse, child, parent, or sibling) (Appendix B Part I.3 and Part II.3) If the individual was employed by the financial institution or affiliate within the past 12 months (Appendix B Part I.3 and II.3). In certain cases, the recusal may be so extensive it could materially reduce the effectiveness of the prospective employee. Job title (LFI Examiner Senior or Advanced) and salary offered will be based on the job responsibilities and the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience as defined in the job qualifications/experience. The Richmond/Charlotte hiring range for the LFI Examiner, Senior is $119,700 - $149,600, annually. The Richmond/Charlotte hiring range for the LFI Examiner, Advanced, is $130,200 - $162,800, annually, Interested candidates are strongly encouraged to apply by April 18, 2022.
