The BISO/DISP is the Discipline advocate and Information Security program owner for their assigned Disciplines and serves as the trusted advisor, both to the Discipline, the CISO and iT Plan leadership. This role will liaise between the Discipline and Global Information Security (GIS), keeping clear lines of communication including but not limited to; transparency to the Discipline on upcoming security initiatives, reporting of security risks to the Discipline leader, CISO and the Global Information Security sub-functions. In addition, this role will ensure business compliance with the Information Security Policy and Standards while continuously monitoring and reporting on risks and documented exceptions.
As the discipline partner, the incumbent will use their experience in and knowledge of cyber security as well as their process management, financial acumen, negotiating, influence and problem solving skills to understand security technology lifecycles and objectives; further, to translate them into mutually beneficial business strategies and multi-year plans for their discipline and IT clients.
Education and Experience Required: 10+ years relevant work experience including: 6 years’ in cybersecurity that includes security program management, metrics capture and analysis and technology expertise. 3+ years’ leading the design and implementation of information security programs 3+ years developing and executing strategic technology plans and/or project portfolios 2+ years’ implementing enterprise security risk management frameworks and processes Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or related field or equivalent experience/certification Preferred: Good understanding of security best practices including NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, ISO27001 and PCI DSS and will have experience working with one of these frameworks. Expert level understanding of key network and technical security controls Experience participating in and coordinating activities for security incident responses Knowledge of global regulatory standards to include GDPR; experience with digital business highly preferred Ability to demonstrate security experience via certifications (CISSP, CISA, CRISC, CISM, etc.) or significant career accomplishments Demonstrated ability to apply organizational information security policies at a discipline unit level Knowledge of IT security within an infrastructure environment Proven knowledge of SDLC; good understanding of ITIL v3 Framework Strong negotiating, influencing and problem resolution skills Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment Experience in business systems and process planning Knowledge of business environment, service requirements and hospitality culture Graduate/post graduate degree

Business Information Security Partnership Provides thought leadership to business/discipline to align technology with business strategies Provides input to discipline technology roadmaps Provides leadership to business discipline units for the implementation of the Marriott Information Security policy, procedures, and standards throughout their business. Participates in forums for technology governance and portfolio management and prioritization Serves as the escalation point of contact for assigned discipline(s); leads efforts to resolve escalated issues Prepares and delivers presentations on technology investments Negotiates trade-offs within and across different solution platforms. Provides insights on impacts of the timing of solution introduction and technology retirement Fosters strong discipline relationships to fully understand business needs Directs the risk assessment and security architecture/engineering completeness of any exceptions to standard baselines or Marriott policy Performs first line approval of security requests from Business Discipline Programs and personnel Proactively identifies information security deficiencies or opportunities for improvement to better enable business security at the global level. Lead the development of pragmatic solutions across Global Information Security by engaging the relevant subject matter experts. Provides communication or escalation path for information security issues identified by Global Information Security or the Disciplines themselves. Provides regular, timely reporting on the information security status across the supported business disciplines. Supports acquisition due diligence for information security risks and support control design for integration. Participates in reporting requirements, monthly/quarterly status meetings and offsites as appropriate. Provides subject matter expertise on various cyber threats to discipline leadership. Represents the CISO at meetings and acts on behalf of as requested.
