Charlotte, NC or Washington DC The Deputy Chief Information Security Officer will act as the right-hand to the CISO, providing executive leadership and sponsorship of efforts, supporting execution of the security strategy. This includes both providing high level leadership and interacting with key business stakeholders such as the C-suite and line of business owners, while “leading from the trenches” with technical teams such as the security operations center. Responsibilities: Work with the CISO to, create, articulate and execute the strategy for the security program, through an informed view of the organizations current security posture, in contrast to industry norms, best of breed practices. Create and realize the vision for technical security engineering excellence throughout the security organization and within adjacent groups (ex CIO), requiring the adoption of security technologies. Sponsor and execute programs to mature the global security posture of the organization, measurably reducing risk to the organization and driving business resilience. Support the CISO in preparing for board of directors and other executive meetings, stepping in to present as needed. Take ownership of organizations innovation investment portfolio, driving a culture of innovation at scale and security engineering excellence throughout the security organization, while ensuring that build/buy decisions are made in a well measured manner and aligned to the strategic direction of the security program. Aid in the recruitment, training and retention of the talent required to fulfill the strategic goals of the security program. This includes driving the use of innovative methods (ex. cyber exercises and the use of cyber ranges) to ensure an agile and battle-ready security team. Manage a team of highly driven, diverse colleagues across the globe. Qualifications: Prior experience leading large security teams with a global scope and a strong track record of success in complex environments Minimum of 20 years of full-time work experience in information security management At least 15 years holding a senior security leadership position at a global company Ability to communicate security risks in business terms to all levels of the organization Experience in financial or insurance industry preferred Information security management certification such as CISSP or CISM Trustworthy with high standards of personal integrity Typically a background in technical IT roles such as IT architecture, development or operations, with a clear and abiding interest in information security Knowledge of security metrics and Key Security Risk indicators and how to implement them Travel 25% estimated, international travel will be required Master’s degree in related field strongly preferred It has been and will continue to be the policy of American International Group, Inc., its subsidiaries and affiliates to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
