Chief Security/Compliance Officer - Basin Electric Power Cooperative - Bismarck, ND

This position serves as the executive responsible for the identification, development, implementation, and management of Basin Electric Power Cooperative’s (BEPC) security strategies and programs. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position, which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.

Qualifications :

To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have an in-depth understanding of the physical and cyber security requirements as they pertain to Basin Electric Power Cooperative, and understand the impact and sensitivity of security issues. This is acquired through the completion of a four-year degree from an Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) accredited electrical engineering program, business, or security related field, and 10 years of related security, compliance, or electrical engineering experience. Supervisory skills are required. Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is required. The incumbent must have leadership skills to provide direction to the management and professional staff within the organization; the ability to develop consensus within an organizational climate of diverse operational activities and often-conflicting regulations imposed by agencies with regulatory jurisdiction; The incumbent must be able to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization, including briefing senior management and governance Board committees on status of security issues. A valid driver’s license is required.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. Travel by plane or operating a motor vehicle is required.
