AVP, Risk Management - FIRST Insurance Funding - Wintrust Financial Corporation - Northbrook, IL

The Risk Management Assistant Vice President is responsible for overseeing a Risk Manager and Risk Management Team lead as part of the Risk Department. The individual will be responsible for making sure that key Risk functions are properly being executed within the department and will have a span of control of 13 associates, including 2 managers. The AVP would continuously analyze areas of Risk, verify that key measures are being executed in a timely fashion and recommend areas of focus based on the team’s output. The AVP will play an important role within the Risk Department by proving constant support to the VP of Risk.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee the proper execution of key report output data related to Risk, reporting measures, trend analysis, and reporting of findings/elevated action items to VP of Credit. Design, lead, mentor, coach staff while assigning work to managers; review, coordinate and address fraud warning signs to ensure that FIRST’s interests are protected. Review, analyze, approve, and manage the addition of new general agents and insurance entities. Review and approve temporary lines of credit; review and approve Care Of/Bill To Agent quotes/loans with amounts financed up to a set dollar amount; reviews loans to be funded and properly document approvals. Sets training criteria/schedule for Risk Department throughout the year based on KRI’s. Oversee day to day Risk Department workflows, production, areas of concern, communication and address accordingly.
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree – Business Related Major Preferred 6-10 Years of Operational/P&C Insurance Leadership Experience Preferred Recommend and implement Risk workflows/processes based on trend analysis Ability to lead with change adoption and improved efficiencies Resourceful and well-organized Good interpersonal skills Proven ability to demonstrate positive operational change in a leadership role Detail Oriented Exhibit proactive teamwork Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Accountable for accuracy and timeliness of work product
