Manny Rivelo, CEO, Forcepoint

As enterprises face growing complexities in data management, leaders seek innovative solutions to protect sensitive information effectively. Traditional data security measures seldom get the job done. Manny Rivelo, CEO of Forcepoint, highlighted the transition from traditional data loss prevention to more nuanced, AI-driven security models that address these challenges.

The integration of small language models and AI technologies into data security strategies offers unprecedented precision and efficiency in managing and protecting data. This shift marks a significant advancement in how companies approach data security.

"For about 20 years, data loss prevention was the tool that organizations used. And it was almost forced on certain industries that are highly regulated, such as financial services and healthcare, and it was less about compliance," Rivelo said. "To be able to protect the data required lots of time, and lots of investment made it quite difficult. So you got those toolsets in the past. The markets are moving or have moved to make that easier."

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSA Conference 2024, Rivelo also discussed:

  • Why traditional data security measures are overly complex and resource-intensive;
  • How transitioning to cloud-based security can consolidate tools and simplify processes;
  • How businesses can align their data security strategy with current technological capabilities.

Rivelo has more than 30 years of experience across executive leadership, product management, customer support and sales functions. He joined Forcepoint in January 2021 from global investment firm Francisco Partners, where he served as senior operating partner. He previously served as chief customer officer at Arista Networks. Prior to that, he served as president and CEO of AppViewX and of F5 Networks.
