"The traditional security approach of preventing attacks has gone out of the window - it's the old school of thought," Raman says in an interview with Information Security Media Group. "The new school of thought is that breaches are inevitable, and you need to work toward being resilient and getting back on your feet as soon as possible." (see: Building a Resilient Cyber Defense)
In this video interview, Raman addresses:
- Why security professionals need to move beyond a perimeter-driven mindset;
- The need to build a strategy for resilience;
- The steps to take to shift to this new approach.
Until recently, Vishak Raman was the senior regional director for FireEye in India and the SAARC region, where he drove awareness and adoption of cybersecurity solutions and helped Indian enterprises and government agencies achieve cyber resilience to enhance their security posture. Previously, he worked at Tata Communications, Fortinet, Watchguard, Sify and HCL technologies.
